Brighton
Care Collective

The Brighton Care Collective has existed since June 2022, connecting people across the city & beyond.

About Us

The Brighton Care Collective is a network of disabled, neurodiverse and queer people and those who love us.

It is a space to gather online and in person to share and redistribute our knowledge, resources, dreams & joy.

Testimonial

As a disabled queer person, I have, for many years, been isolated from the people who I consider to be my community. This has had a profound effect on my mental health, but, in the turbulent political climate in which we now live, staying connected to a support network is more important than ever. The Care Collective has made me feel, for the first time in my life, that it is within my grasp to cultivate a group of friends who are on my wavelength as a pathway to self-actualisation.

I need The Care Collective to continue to exist and to thrive, because, right now, that is my biggest single source of hope.

What We Do

While it may not always feel like it for disabled and queer people, there are so many of us out here. The Care Collective exists so we can find & connect with each other more easily.  Some of the things we get up to once we've done the hard part of finding each other  are:

  • Cultivating relationships where we can feel truly witnessed

  • Assisting each other in accessing health & social care, housing, and benefits

  • Recognising and sharing our collective genius

Our Mission/Ethos

Either a bulleted list of key ethics, or a longer paragraph with our mission statement (mention access intimacy)

Donate

Please consider donating in order to help us continue what we're doing: bringing people together so we can support & heal each other! Without your precious donations, we have no way to operate to the fullest extent we can, and there's lots of people relying on this collective.

Here's just a few of the things we need funds for in order to operate:

  • Hiring spaces to gather and to hold events (including fundraising events)

  • Covering travel expenses for people unable to use public transport to get to events due to accessibility issues

  • Purchasing items to make the spaces we hold physical events in more comfortable, technology to reduce viral transmission, fidget toys, etc.
